For several months, Egypt has launched discreet numerous airstrikes against convoys of Emirati weapons destined for the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Libya and Sudan. Egyptian aircraft and drones were reportedly involved in June, October, and November 2025, as well as on January 9 2026, to strike these convoys between Kufrah airbase and Darfur, which is under RSF control. Egypt has notably struck convoys that mistakenly crossed its border in the triangular region. However, the most recent strikes aim to deter Haftar's Libya and the United Arab Emirates from using southeastern Libya to supply the RSF with weapons, ammunition, and mercenaries. The recent closure of Saudi, Egyptian, and Somali airspace to the UAE now forces Emirati cargo planes to transit through Djibouti, Ethiopia, South Sudan, the Central African Republic, and Chad to reach southeastern Libya. Sources tell Darfur24 that the Rapid Support Forces have taken control of the town of Jarjira in North Darfur State.
The General Command of the Sudanese Armed Forces announced that it had carried out intensive air and ground raids during the past week targeting Rapid Support Forces positions in the Darfur and Kordofan regions, in addition to their supply routes coming from southern Libya.
Following a series of recent victories in Kordofan, the Sudanese army announced: "We conducted airstrikes on Rapid Support Forces (RSF) positions, destroying 240 RSF combat vehicles and driving their forces out of large areas of Kordofan. We also destroyed strategic RSF drones inside Nyala Airport. We will pursue them until we liberate all of Sudan."

The 19th Infantry Division Command in Merowe announced on Monday morning that it had thwarted an attack by suicide drones launched by the UAE-backed Janjaweed militia, targeting the command headquarters, Merowe Air Base, and the Merowe Dam. The command explained that ground defense units engaged the drones and shot them down before they reached their targets.
The SAF targeted RSF militia gatherings using drones in Damra Ghurir, Zarq, and Bwadi Al-Rahl in North Darfur. The video shows scenes following an airstrike on one of the RSF sites in the Zarq area.

The security advisor to the Rapid Support Forces commander was killed in a drone strike near Zalingei. On Thursday, the security advisor to the commander of the Rapid Support Forces in Darfur, along with the commander of the pro-RSF Revolutionary Awakening Council forces and several of their companions, were killed near the city of Zalingei in Central Darfur State.
